The Maroons come back twice to share the spoils

Crawley Green FC 2 v Wembley FC 2
It finished honours even after Crawley twice came from behind to take a point in a 2-2 draw against Wembley.

With the driving rain and the wind at their backs Wembley were gifted the lead by naïve defending from the Maroons.
In the 4th minute Crawley switched off at back waiting for an offside flag that never came.
Keeper George Rose then lost possession to Kemi Ognnsula who walked the ball in the net to make it 0-1.

Crawley raised their game after the early set back and equalised 8 minutes later with a stunning strike from Phil Draycott.
Draycott picked up the ball on the left and sweetly struck the ball which flew into the top corner to make it 1-1.

Rose then kept out efforts from Jonathan Iley and Zaied Sabti before Crawley hit back with a Draycott corner which was headed over by Chris Crook.
Crawley’s Billy Lobjoit was next to go close from a cross by Sam Pemberton and Ognnsula replied before the break with 2 shots which were well saved by Rose.

The Maroon’s started slowly again in the second half and Ned Lee Jones broke clear but put his shot wide.
Sabti shot over for the visitors before Draycott thumped in a free kick which cannoned off the post.

After 54 minutes Wembley re-took the lead when substitute Samuel Addae made ground down the right and knocked in a peach of a cross for Ognnsula who made it 1-2.

It was a case of déjà vu as Crawley got back on level terms 8 minutes later.
Sam Holmes fired a poor free kick into the wall but he quickly latched onto the rebound to smash the ball in off the bar to make it 2-2.

Both sides went for the win as Draycott shot over for the Maroons and Charlie Weir had a long range effort smash against the post.
Rose then kept out efforts from Iley and Jones and in added time Crawley’s Danny Watson got on the end of a Rose clearance but his effort went just wide.

So it ended all square on a filthy night with a deluge of rain but thankfully no mud on the excellent 3G pitch.

Crawley Green have no game Saturday and host Dunstable Town FC next Tuesday.
