A hat trick from skipper Joe Hankins helped Crawley edge out Baldock with a 3-0 win which took them off the bottom of the table going into the final Saturday of the season. The Maroons created the better chances throughout and hit the woodwork 3 times, but the visitors made the hosts fight until the final whistle for the win.

Crawley had an early goal chalked out for a foul on Baldock's stand-in keeper Tommy Reynolds and minutes later Reynolds kept out an overhead kick from Dario Borval.

After 17 minutes Crawley took the lead. Jordan Mongey played in Joe Hankins who finished well to make it 1-0.Crawley's Luke Andrews followed with a good shot which cannoned off the post and from the throw-in Hankins blasted the ball off the other post.

Baldock replied with a shot from Charlie Rome and minutes later Callum Kane went clean through but his shot was well saved by Loris Marcimain in the Crawley goal.

Back came Crawley and Reynolds made two outstanding saves to deny Jake Kissiedu and Mathieu Racine before Loris came to Crawley's rescue with a fine save from an effort by Robbie Wilcock. Just before half-time Reynolds made another cracking save to parry away an effort from Dario Borval and it finished 1-0 at the break.

After the break Crawley were quickly out of the blocks and in the first minute Dario Borval hit the post. Andrews followed with a shot that was deflected for a corner and after 65 minutes the Maroon's doubled their lead.

After a good run down the right Dario Borval set up Hankins to make it 2-0. Despite Baldock's efforts to get back in the game Crawley's defence stood firm with Marcimain outstanding in goal.

Although Crawley were reduced to 10 men when Javin Dougan received a double yellow card the Maroon's scored again in added time. Skipper Joe Hankins completed his hat trick when he calmly lobbed Reynolds to make it 3-0.

So the finale of the season goes to the last game with 2 points separating the bottom 3 clubs. Crawley visit Tring Athletic, London Colney go to Leverstock Green and Holmer Green host Baldock Town.

Anything is possible and it promises to be a nail biting day.

Crawley Green Reserves drew 1-1 with Biggleswade Reserves on Easter Monday with leading goal scorer Temitayo Akerele equalising for the Maroons.
