The Wands are on their travels once again tomorrow as we visit Cheshunt in a vital game at the wrong end of the Ryman League North Table.
With tomorrow promising to be a very warm day after months of cold hopefully setting the tone for a wonderful spring and summer , what could be better than travelling to leafy Hertfordshire to watch the Wands.
In my opinion Cray were unlucky to lose at Soham last Saturday but lose they did so now three points need to be picked up on a regular basis during the last thirteen games of the season if Cray are to avoid back to back relegations. Cheshunt currently lie 19th in the league table on 37 points and are only six points off the bottom three. Please note that Cheshunt too play in Amber shirts so Cray will be in their away strip tomorrow.
The last time we played a league game at Cheshunt was in the Aetolian League on 9th December 1961 when the home side won 2-1. Ken Turner scored tor the Wands that day. In more recent years we met in the Preliminary Round of the FA Trophy in October 2006 at Cheshunt with Cray winning 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Colin Luckett. Our game against them this season on 16th September is one we would most certainly want to forget with Cheshunt running out 4-1 winners at Hayes Lane in what was Keith Bird's last game in charge. Fagbohan, Bolle, Bossemen and Tajaksh scored for Cheshunt with Lol Hamici scoring a consolation in injury time.
Following tomorrow, the Wands are away to Wroxham on Tuesday night and then home to Needham Market on Saturday. From there we play three of the bottom four in the space of two weeks so there is plenty still to play for.
For supporters going to Cheshunt tomorrow and who haven't been there before here are some directions.
