Our restructuring of the squad is nearly complete, and with the exception of potentially 1 or 2 more signings over the remainder of the season, we now look forward to working with a settled squad for the remainder of the campaign. Subject to the weather on Saturday we plan to have a new squad photo taken as well as player profile pictures for uploading to the website so that you can get to know everyone.

Before talking about 3 more exciting signings on the playing squad I want to introduce 3 great signings for the off the field team.
As well as running the team, Mike Paye and myself have been working our network to help strengthen the club of the field as well.
We have introduced to our Club Chairman, Gary Hilman, two key people to help Gary and the committee take the club forward.

Firstly Dave Francis has joined the club as Vice Chairman. Dave is a very successful businessman and will help drive the longer term strategy of the club, the commercial side of the business and help with joining up all the various parts of the clubs activities. Dave is also a former Cray Wanderers player, playing during the same era that Mike Paye was a Cray Wanderers player.

Next we have introduced Kay Skelton who has vast amounts of experience working with a number of football clubs in the past and also with the FA. Kay will help drive our stadium application project, grant applications and community activities.

Finally Glenn Dyer has joined the coaching staff. Like myself and Michael McDonald, Glenn is a UEFA Licensed Coach and brings vast amounts of coaching experience and energy to our management team.

All of these appointments are part of the 3 - 5 year plan that myself, Mike, & Gary have.

Also through our network we have introduced 3 sponsors that you will see on our playing shirts and the new training kit that we have now issue to the squad. I would therefore like to thank Krieder, Able & Chambers for joining us as sponsors until the end of the season. We very much appreciate their support and hope this is the start of a long term relationship.

Now back to to playing side

With 10 players being cup tied for Tuesday nights Ryman League Cup game against Chatham (meaning most of our recent signings were unable to play) its was an opportunity to give current and former Cray Wanderers Academy players a chance as well as looking at players who have not had a regular place recently.

There were some very encouraging performances, particulary in the second half, and it was an opportunity to practise some of the finishing touches to our new system of play and set pieces.

2 Players we are parting company with

Jack Clark has decided to accept an offer from Kingstonian. Jack is a lovely lad and a great player. Jack will always be welcome to come back to the club.

Secondly Aaron Day has accepted the opportunity to get regualr football at Kent Premier side Greenwich Borough.
The word legend should not be used lightly but that is exactly what Aaron is in my eyes with regards Cray Wanderers history.
He has been a great servant to the club and in the short time I have worked with Aaron, I have developed the greatest respect for him. That is why I have made the offer to Aaron that whenever in the future he decides to hang his boots up I would like him to come back to the club and join our management/ coaching team. The boys gave Aaron a warm send off at training on Monday night and we all wish him and his family the very best for the future.

Announcing 3 more new signings

Nathan Koo-Boothe
Highly experienced 28 year Center Back who has played professional football in England, Spain & Malta. We have signed Nathan from Conference South side Farnborough FC. Previous clubs have included Watford, MK Dons, Kettering Town, Aldershot Town and Hayes & Yeading. Nathan was also a Jamaican U21 International with 14 caps.

Javlon Campbell
Exciting and very fast Center Forward joining us from Kingstonian and former Pro at Bolton Wanderers. Jav joined Kingstonian from Thamesmead where he was their top goal scorer and prior to that was at Histon and Billericay Town.

Giannoulis Fakinos (known as Cesc)
Played Proffesional football in Greece for Olmpiacos, Panionios, Ilioupoli and Apollon Smyrni. Then moved to Ebbsfleet in the Conference South. He then joined Welling in the Conference South and had a loan spell at Margate before signing for us. Giannoulis was also a Greek U19 International.

Finally announcing our new club captain
With Aaron Day moving on I am delighted to announce that we have appointed Alex Stavrinou (Stav) as our new club captain.
Stav is an inspirational leader who gives his all in every game and every training session. He leads by example and will be a fantastic skipper for us.

In closing I woud just say that we really appreciate your support and we need you to get behind us more than ever as we attempt the great escape!

All the best,
