Thursday night saw Exeter University Rugby Football Club visit Blagdon in what was our final pre-season fixture. A large crowd gathered in anticipation of an enjoyable evening of rugby, and few will have left disappointed.
The students won the game 26 v 36 but, as in previous games, we came away with lots of positives to take into the start of the season proper.
Huge thanks to the University for the game, pre-season matches have been a bit hit and miss and this game was arranged at reasonably short notice.
Next weekend the season starts for real. Unfortunately, the first 1st XV league fixture has already been cancelled. Scheduled opponents Stroud RFC have withdrawn from the league due to a shortage of players. We wish them all the best as they look to rebuild. Don't worry though, you will be able to catch the 2s, 3s and Colts in action.
You never quite know what a new season will bring but, one thing that you can be certain of is that we will be here providing community rugby for men, women, boys and girls.
