First and foremost I trust you are all keeping safe, fit and well in these challenging times for us all.
Please feel free to reach out to your Rugby family if you need support at all or even if it is just to talk.
Rugby is such a great social sport, it is such a shame it can’t be enjoyed in this way currently.
I long for the day when I can stand out in the cold at Fairview Fields rain and wind lashing down on my face watching you all play rugby! But I am sure as Sir Captain Tom Moore said “The sun will shine again and the clouds will go away” and if a 100 year old man can have that level of optimism he has we should all carry that same spirit amongst us all in these tough times to help us all get through it together!
Following our Monthly Committee Meeting we discussed a number of topics but one was around the recent announcement from the RFU that no competitive adult rugby will be played in the 2020/21 season sadly. We do hope this doesn’t mean the end of rugby this season but who knows, if there is the possibility of arranging some friendlies we will do our utmost to sort this for you all.
We are all very fortunate in that our Rugby Club has always been run in a very efficient and well run way even for a small club like ours and we have run numerous social events over the years which has ensured we can keep the cost of rugby down but also ensure the club is in a stable and solid position.
I am writing to you all to reaffirm this message and that financially we are in a good place and it is with this in mind we have tonight agreed that as Senior members , those that have paid their £70 Membership - the expectation for next season the 2021/22 season is that you will be only expected to pay half fees again likely to be £70 for those that haven’t paid it will just be fees as normal for the 2021/22 season.
We do hope that this step is met positively and is not one we take lightly but during these unprecedented times for the world and for rugby we feel it is important that we support you all and repay your loyalty with our very own loyalty as a Rugby Club.
For those that are involved with the Minis we have agreed to review the minis membership towards the end of the season (March time) as we hope to be able to get games organised for the Minis for the new year and training to recommence pre Christmas so less disruption for the Minis than Adult rugby. But equally we will review this situation in the same way should the Minis rugby be further impacted or indeed further Lockdowns put in place or extended.
Once again thank you for your continued support of Cricklade RFC, please keep safe, fit and well and I look forward to seeing you all on the pitch one day very soon!
