Thanks to Alys Rowland for the report

Crostyx Ladies 1s played 2nd place Brentwood this weekend in a top of the table thriller.

Crostyx had 90% of the possession but found it difficult to convert chances to goals. The Brentwood keeper had a superb match with Sarah Belsham being continually halted with chances goal bound. Short corners, long corners, free hits, Crostyx were unable to score in the first half despite the mounting pressure and continual surge forward.

Half time breather gave Crostyx a chance to reflect and realise that it was only a matter of time before a goal came. Man of the match Laura Feldman worked tirelessly in the centre holding court and making tricky runs into the D.

Sarah Belsham fixed the defence time and time again. The goal came 20min into the second half after a whippet like run from Sophie Smith and hard cross found Alys Rowland free in the D who took time to ensure the ball was hard, low and fast - out of reach from the gazelle like goal keeper who had been troubling Crostyx till now!

Crostyx continued to turn up the heat looking to extend their lead. Vicky Berill and Aimee Daltrey stood solid in defence distributing wide.

The score finished at 1-0 but in their heads and hearts Crostyx knew it should have been more.

The Ladies 1st X1 travel away to Basildon ODF next Saturday, pushback at 1pm.
