Early on a bright Autumn Sunday, Crostyx held their home round of the Essex Mini League at Lee Valley.
The day kicked off with the U10B playing the first of four matches, reduced as unfortunately one team had pulled out.
The squad were: Amar Johal, Monty Biddick, Alec Howson, Adam Tsang, Ben Foley, Matthew Bradley Jones, Monty Haven and Oscar Leel.
First up were Bishop's Stortford. In the opening minute the boys smartly worked the ball up the pitch and rapidly scored (Leel). BS recovered from the shock and netted twice to win the game 2-1.
Next were Old Loughts who demonstrated their usual quality. The boys did well to hold them to a 1 - 0 loss.
Third up were Blue Hornets and the Crostyx boys were into their stride. Well structured play saw them finish the game 3-0 winners (Leel X 2, Howson). This was an especially pleasing result as Hornets are another club with traditionally strong junior teams.
The final game of the day saw the boys take on Chelmsford. With play improving across the morning, Crostyx took their chances well to win the game 6-0 (Leel x 3, Biddick, Bradley-Jones, Tsang).
The whole squad put in impressive performances, especially given for some it was their first competitive tournament. There is a lot of promise building here for the future.
Many thanks to Suzy Haven and Robert Harrison for running the team, and Lucy Leel for umpiring the games.
