The CT Shush story started in 2014 where current chairman Mark Butterworth decided to get his old kids football team back together. All players were under 21 at the time and were entered into the Midland Football League U21 East Division.
The name CT Shush derives from “CT – Chelmsley Town (place not team)” and “Shush – Shush UK Ltd”. Due to Chelmsley Town FC’s promotion and subsequent move to Pack Meadow, there was a space for a new team at the clubhouse which needed to be filled. Friends of the club, Shush UK Ltd are our main sponsor and hold the name of club.
Following a 16-game season in the MFL U21 South East, against teams such as Rugby Town Juniors and Bromsgrove Sporting U21’s the Shush finished in 6th place.
CT Shush then applied for the Midland Football League but unfortunately was not accepted at the first attempt. The Shush were not deterred however and applied successfully into the Birmingham AFA going straight into Division 1. Taking a lot of the young players from the under 21 side the Shush finished in 9th position in their first season of real open age football.
During 2016/2017 CT Shush introduced an U21 side into the Birmingham AFA in an attempt to increase the size of the club and give an avenue for young players to get into the first team.
Due to family circumstances Mark Butterworth stood down as Manager leaving a vacancy at the start of the 2016/2017 season. Current Player-Manager and also player at the time Jamie Fisher was asked by the chairman to take the role in which he accepted. With a lot of the same players along with a couple of new additions CT Shush managed to finish in 4th position in the Birmingham AFA. The under 21 side playing out of the Birmingham AFA division 6 also finished 4th but added the AFA Youth Trophy with a 3-1 win over AFA stalwarts Wake Green Amateurs.
As was always the aim, the long-term plan for CT Shush was to apply for the Midland Football League.
In June of 2017 it was announced that CT Shush was successful with an application and will go into division three. The Shush will also still have the “U21” side in the Birmingham AFA but they have been promoted to division 5 and will run as a reserve team. These changes indicate a rapid rise for CT Shush and we hope that this will continue into the coming season.
In June 2018, following our first season in the Midland Football League, the decision was made to move from our founding home Chelmsley Town Football Club and move across to The Glades Football Centre in Solihull. This decision also saw a name change made from "CT" Shush to "FC" Shush. This also saw a few backroom changes with Chairman Mark Butterworth stepping down with current Manager and his staff Jamie Fisher, Tom Foster and Garry Humphries taking control of club affairs. The reserve side was also disbanded with full attention going into the first team.
