This season we have an Under 21s team representing the club in the North West U21s Development League, West Division.
The U21s team is mostly made up of a very successful Daisy Hill U18s team who had two seasons in the North West Youth Alliance finishing runners up and league cup champions in their 2018/19 campaign. The rest of the U21s squad is made up of local lads who trialled in the summer and who are looking forward to representing Daisy Hill at this level.
Two members of the U18’s squad, Jamie Ramwell and Jacob Ridings, have progressed into the first team set up and are now regular starters, and hopefully plenty more will follow from the U21s with Tom Lee getting a handful of appearances last season, Luke Harrison and Adam O’Donnell also making their first team debuts this year.
The first league game of the season took place last Sunday 1st September, and was a competitive encounter against a typical feisty Merseyside team in South Liverpool .
Daisy Hill took the lead through Adam O’Donnell smashing in from close range after a goalmouth scramble. South Liverpool equalised just before half time after Daisy Hill only managed to half clear a corner and failed to deal with the loose ball which was dispatched from just outside the penalty area.
Joe Leather kept Daisy Hill in the match with a great point blank save from another
opposition set play and the game was tied at half time 1-1.
The second half continued to be a scrappy affair with the wind not helping the quality of football on show, but there was plenty of effort and determination from the boys.
Unfortunately as they pushed for the winner they got punished by not dealing with a South Liverpool counter attack, and went 2-1 behind.
Daisy Hill couldn’t find a response and the final score ended 1-2 to the visitors.
The next match is this coming Sunday 8th September, away to Egerton. The game will be played at Egerton Youth Club in Knutsford and kicks off at 12 noon..
