A terrific display of attacking football saw Daisy Hill record one of their highest scoring away wins for some time, with a 6-3 win at Nelson.

On an afternoon where, as well as scoring six goals, Daisy also missed a penalty and hit the woodwork three times, the home side had no answer to the pace and counter attacking prowess of a visiting side who are in serious goalscoring form.

Daisy opened the scoring in the 9th minute, when Jacob Ridings combined with Jamie Ramwell down the right before cutting inside and beating Nelson keeper Ben Parkinson with a shot at his near post.

However, within two minutes Nelson were level, although there was an element of fortune about the goal, with Teal Amos firing in a cross from wide on the left that evaded the outstretched hand of Daisy keeper Sajid Sulleman and crept in at the far post.

A minute later Morgan Crowther came close to adding to Nelson's tally with a shout just over the bar, but on 17 minutes he put Nelson ahead, picking the ball up on the left, cutting inside to create space for the shot and then despatching the ball into the bottom corner.

On 24 minutes Daisy were back on level terms, with a delightful defence splitting pass from Jake O'Brien setting up Jamie Ramwell to beat Parkinson with an angled shot into the bottom corner.

The link up play between Jacob Ridings and Jamie Ramwell down the right was causing the home defence all sorts of problems, and just after the half hour another combination between the two led to a Ridings cross into the box that Nelson defender Kieran Demaine almost sliced into his own net.

Daisy continued to press and after Gareth Roberts had had a shot beaten out by Parkinson, Daisy were handed the chance to take the lead when the referee awarded a penalty after Dean Singleton was bundled to the ground at a corner kick, and Jamie Ramwell sent the keeper the wrong way to put Daisy 3-2 ahead.

In the last action of the first half, Jacob Ridings rounded off a fine 45 minutes of attacking play with another run down the right and a cross that rebounded off the far post and away to safety.

But Daisy picked up the momentum again after the restart, and on 51 minutes it was 4-2, with Joseph Mullarkey firing home a shot on the turn from a right wing cross.

Nelson were struggling to get a foothold in the game but they reduced the deficit just on eth hour mark, when the Daisy defence failed to deal with a cross from the left and Morgan Crowther timed his run to the back post perfectly to finish from close range.

Three minutes later Jake O'Brien hit the bar with a tremendous strike from a 25 yard free kick, and newly introduced substitute David Devlin was also denied by the woodwork with a shot from a similar distance.

At the midway point in the half, another Daisy attack was ended with a foul on Jamie Ramwell inside the box, and the referee once gain pointed to the spot.

With Ramwell already having two goals to his name, there was never going to be any doubt as to who would take the penalty, but after placing his previous spot low, this time he went for power but blasted the ball over the bar.

But twelve minutes remaining Daisy regained their two goal lead with the best move of the match, started deep in defence by substitute Peter Lancaster whose pass down the channel set Jamie Ramwell free down the right.

After outpacing the defence, Ramwell cut the ball back into Devlin who held the ball up before rolling it inviting into the path of Jacob Ridings who smashed home his second goal of the afternoon to make it 5-3.

As the game moved into stoppage time, Nelson's Daniel Fagan was shown his second yellow card of the afternoon for a foul on Jacob Ridings, and he was followed off the field by team mate Charlie Mayo who was sin-binned for dissent.

A great afternoon's work from Daisy was rounded off deep into stoppage time when Nelson keeper Parkinson over hit a short free kick intended for his team mate Kieron Demaine, and when the ball landed at the feet of David Devlin, the Daisy striker nonchalantly chipped the ball into the unguarded net to complete a 6-3 win.
