Star completed their pre-season with a 3-2 victory in a highly entertaining match at Islecroft. The home side took an early lead when a cleverly taken free kick by Steven degnan picked out Hugh Cameron and he found the back of the net with an excellent volley. Just after the half hour the scoreline was level when Killie equalised with a towering header from a corner. Within a couple of minutes Star was back in the lead with another fine goal this time from Degnan after some good lead up play by Liam Park. It was 3-1 right on half time when Degnan's whipped in near post corner was touched home by a defender. As the match wore on Kilmarnock's superior fitness began to tell and they had Star pinned inside their own half for long spells. With 15 minutes left Killie pulled one back with a superb goal but Star held on to win.
