DHC Men's Hockey - Interclub League Game
Both of DHC Men's squads were back in action last weekend! As both teams remain in the Yorkshire North East Division 3 Tees league, they have to play each other in an interclub league game.
Luckily the weather had warmed up and the sun was shining ahead of an early 10.30am push back for the guys!
Full squads for both teams it was set to be a competitive yet friendly game, with DHC M1s determined to secure a win and a further three points. The game started off strong with DHC M1s having the majority of the possession, this didn't deter the M2s however with plenty of pressure being applied to through the midfield and forwards.
In the final few moments of the first half, the M1s secured and converted a penalty corner putting them 1-0 up. After some questionable play from the M1s in the first half, this was what they needed ahead of the half time reset.
Post half time team talks, both squads were ready for the second half. The M2s continued to build confidence with some strong play through the defence and midfield. The M2s continued to build on this, securing a penalty corner which was converted from a strong top of the D strike.
At 1-1 the M1s needed to pull something out the bag to take the win. Holding onto possession for the remainder of the game, they managed to secure another goal. A number of penalty corners were also awarded in their favour however, these couldn't be converted.
Credit where credits due to the M2s goal keeper, who firmly kept the M1s from a more convincing win and allowing the M2s confidence to continue the momentum further up the pitch.
Final score 2-1 to the M1s - a fantastic team photo to end, followed by pizza and pints for both squads!
Well done all!
