The 2019/20 season gets underway for the 1st XV this weekend, with a 22-man squad travelling North to face Winlaton Vulcans in Round One of the Durham County RFU Junior Cup.

Darlington will be hoping for a better start than last season, having lost in their first round home fixture against eventual Junior Cup winners Ryton, 11-27.

1st XV hooker Darren Hoare, who captains the side this weekend, said: "The team have been working hard at training and are really looking forward it.

"With new players joining and old players returning, it's great to get back playing competitive rugby and Winlaton will certainly provide a tough test."
