Even though Darlington lost their second and last Pre-Season fixture against a very fit outfit from Catterick there are a lot of positives to be taken from the game.
Throughout the evening Darlington changed the team 4 times which ruled out any sort of consistency, meaning Darlington couldn't really settle into the game.
Up until half time possession was in ITCs favour 75% to Darlingtons measly 25%. When we did keep the ball in hand we showed what damage and problems teams in D&N 3 can face. Adam Gardner looked sharp playing out of his skin to secure a centre shirt in an ever growing squad, we welcomed James Parks from over the road on the evening a player with great ability, speed and vision; David Kilpatrick made his first game back after being out for nearly a year and half through a knee injury who caused mayhem for defence in the mid-field during the last 20min.
Credit must go to Graham Webster and his colts Ollie Pearse, Max Hargrove and Oliver Telfer. Max and Oliver played their first game for the seniors, Max impressed after he settled into the game showing his sniping and distribution abilities and Ollie came on leaps and bounds from his game against Acklam.
It's clear to see from the depth the squad had on the Tuesday night that selection is going to cause a headache within the ranks which is why it's important that players keep training and justify why they should be selected.
A big session on Thursday is needed from many individuals in order to seal a place within the squad for Consett away this weekend.
