Our 1st team travelled to Seaton Carew in the first fixture of Durham and Northumberland 2 and the team were eager to get off to a winning start. Some midweek selection head aches was welcomed by coach Dan Miller with several players making a statement in previous fixtures.
Newly promoted Seaton Carew got off to the better start punishing Darlington mistakes and taking some early points. The Darlo pack however clearly had the upper the hand in the scrum and late in the first half proved too much for the Seaton pack resulting in a penalty try awarded.
Early in the second half lots of Darlington pressure resulted in a try for No 8 Massimo and then again for newly signed prop Linden Dixon. Seaton were not willing to give up easy and kept hitting the Darlington defence to find the winning score however the away team were able to hold out until the final whistle.
Darlington knew the importance of getting the win and take away many positives including a bonus point victory ... job done. The team will now look ahead to next week where they're away to Sedgefield who are bolstered by plenty of summer recruits and the 2nd XV host Wensleydale at Blackwell Meadows.
Good luck to Seaton Carew for the rest of the season and thank you for being excellent hosts.
