Team info

U7s

We are a small, welcoming club with a thriving Minis rugby section. Our U7s team caters for Year 2 boys and girls and provides a first introduction to competitive rugby.

The focus is on learning and practising some of the basic fundamentals of rugby, i.e. run forward, pass back. U7s play tag rugby which is strictly non-contact with players wearing a Velcro belt with two tags hanging from it – players are ‘tackled’ by having one of their tags pulled off.

We train on Sundays (September to April) from 9.30-10.45am except when we are playing a match. We play matches, usually every alternate Sunday, at home and away, against other rugby clubs from across the region.

New players are welcome throughout the season. If your Year 2 son or daughter is interested in giving tag rugby a go, feel free to drop in at a training session (see 'fixtures' to find out when we will be training at Blackwell Meadows). Be dressed for the weather in tracksuit bottoms or shorts, t-shirt, jumper (coat, hat and gloves occasionally!) and trainers or football/rugby boots if you have them.

New players are entitled to two free taster sessions and subs are then £12/month. All players will be registered with the RFU (free) and need to become members of DRFC (annual fee applies).
