In spite of this being the first tournament of the year, Dart U10s were feeling relatively confident with several training sessions under their belts.
First up was Ashmoor, who were also confident and asserted themselves from the off. However Dart were quick to take control of the game with some beautiful passing between Ben Adams, Noah Sutton, Archie Townsend and Sam Webber. They put immediate pressure on the Ashmoor defence, and after several waves of attack were able to capitalise on Ashmoor’s open goal with a well struck hit from Ben Adams. In the 2nd half, Ashmoor came out strong from the whistle. In defence, Oliver Quartley and Reuben Green fought off the Ashmoor attack with first time keeper Owen Sutton making some crucial saves. A great team performance ended with a 1-0 win for Dart.
Next up were a strong and organised ISCA team. End to end hockey with great passing play from Dart was rewarded with a goal from Sam Webber in the first half. In spite of heroic defending from the Dart backs and keeper, Dart conceded a last minute goal to end 1-1. Another great team effort which was a pleasure to watch for parents and coaches alike!
A great start for the Dart U10s – they continue to play as a controlled and coherent unit. They are now looking forward to their next tournament on Nov 1st where they hope to add more wins to their tally.
