survey - results

Dear Player

Background
Earlier this year the committee issued a survey to gauge the views of all players.
The following is an initial report on the key findings. If you would like to comment on the report or on the survey then please send me your thoughts by 23rd February and I will collate them and add them to those already received. Alternatively discuss your views with your captain who will represent your views to the committee.
The committee will appoint a small forum of members to review this report and any new comments and will formulate an action plan to address key concerns.

Question 1 - What is your primary team
The survey was open to all 60 registered players and 27 responses were received. Primarily first and third team members responded with a very low response rate from the 2nd team

Question 2 - In 5 years what level of hockey do you expect to be playing
Almost half responses said no change expected
One third expect to stop playing

Question 3 - Diversity
Half of the responders very happy and an additional one quarter fairly happy
Just over one quarter not happy

Question 4 - Club Values
Three quarters very happy or fairly happy.
One quarter see a problem

Question 5 - Safety and wellbeing
Three quarters are very happy.
One quarter see some concern including 12% who are very concerned

Question 6 - Ethos ie. our culture and the environment that is created by people and their behaviours.
Three quartersare very or fairly happy.
One quarter, (including those who did not respond) have concerns

Question 7 - Investments & Training
There is a fairly even split of opinions among the following generic responses taken from the comments. 17 comments were provided fromthose who chose to answer the free text question.
One quarter would like a new coach
One quarter would like to change to a different night
One quarter cannot or will not attend at all
One quarter attend training and are happy

Question 8 - Umpiring
Three quarters of respondents do not want to umpire. (Assumes nil response indicates reluctance to umpire)
Just over one fifth of those who responded umpire regularly. The committee feel that this is overly biased given the general response rate and that the proportion of players willing to umpire is lower.

Question 9 - Serving on the Committee
More than half have no interest in serving on the committee, (assuming nil response indicates no interest)
There is little interest in learning more about the roles on committee or standing for election

Question 10 - Personal Aspirations
Half the respondents thought that personal aspirations were considered by the club some of the time and almost a third thought that it benefited selective individuals.
The comments are primarily concerned with improving communications among club members and promoting more club activities, social opportunities mainly, to improve communications and mixing between members of different teams.
Some members are considered about the lack of opportunities for movement between the teams

Feedback within 2 weeks. Closes 23rd February
This is your opportunity to comment. Please respond directly to me. The survey results themselves are anonymous whereas of course if you respond by email you can be identified. If you prefer you should feel free to discuss with your captain who will represent your views to the committee.
