100 Squares Competition

Ian Armitt, Mayor of Dartford, receiving the England World Cup rugby shirt, signed by former England captain, Phil Vickerey. Ian won the shirt in DVRFC's 100 squares competition. The shirt was donated by the charity Wooden Spoon and raised £250 for the charity and £250 for DVRFC. Well done, Ian!"

When Ian Armitt received his shirt he had this to say

'When you are elected as Mayor you 'acquire' a number of nominal titles and I was accordingly both honoured and pleased to be asked to accept the position of one of Dartford Valley Rugby Football Club's Vice-Presidents. During my term of office as Mayor to date I have done as much as I have been able to promote the Club which, in its relatively short existence, has become very much a part of the Dartford sporting scene.

Despite all of the calls of 'Fix' (entirely from members of the Club) I was delighted to win an England 2015 World Cup Rugby Shirt signed by Phil Vickery in a recent fund-raising event which saw a total of £500 shared equally between the Club and Rugby's Wooden Spoon Charity. I would at this point, and in my defence, like to make clear that I was not present when the draw was made!!!

I hope that the shirt will raise further funds and have agreed that any amount raised will be shared equally between my own Charity (Lollipop Fund for Children's High Dependency Unit at Darent Valley Hospital) and Dartford Valley Rugby Football Club. The shirt is not at the present time framed but I am open to offers being made for it 'un-framed' (with a Certificate of Authenticity ) with a reserve set at £100 .......any offers? If you are interested please contact me at ian.armitt@dartford.gov.uk'

Well done and thank you again Ian
