Town went behind to a goal from Alex Roberts, Daventry keeper Richard Morris getting a good hand to the ball, but not enough to prevent Southam from taking an early lead.
A good cross from Mykel Beckley almost found the head of Ashley Robinson but the ball was just too high for the striker to make a good contact.
Liam Dolman unusually lost the ball at his feet allowing striker Simeon Smith with a free run and shot at goal, but Daventry keeper Richard Morris prevented the Southam striker from scoring with a fine save.
Smith was given space for another shot soon afterwards, which went narrowly past the post.
Southam could have increased their lead, but it was Daventry who equalised, Joe Coleman won the ball out on the right and found Mykel Beckley, who delivered a fine cross to Ashley Robinson, who scrambled the ball into the net, right on half time.
