Some enthusiastic vocal support including the Aylesbury `Drum boys`, made for a noisy opening in which Jerome Fredrico tested Richard Morris with an early shot, which the Daventry keeper palmed away for a corner.
Daventry took the lead after twenty minutes, with a lot of help from the moles keeper Simeon Charles. Adam Confue hit a shot which the keeper appeared to collect comfortably, only for Charles to fumble the ball out of his hands into the goal, much to the surprise and amusement of the travelling Purple Army.
Despite the goal, Aylesbury were proving to be a difficult team to overcome, in a scrappy first half there were few opportunities created, much of the action surrounding the referee and his whistle, with constant interruptions in play.
Daventry increased their lead with a well worked goal from Ryan Howells, combining well with Ross Oulton, to hit a well struck shot past keeper Charles. The two goal lead lasted just four minutes; Aylesbury Captain Ben Stevens converting a training-ground free kick, to give the moles fresh hope of a comeback, with ten minutes to go.
Daventry held on to record a second consecutive league victory, they remain unbeaten in all games, as they travel to Northwood on Saturday (24th August) before the big local derby against top of the league Rugby Town at Communications Park, on Bank Holiday Monday (26th August).
A big crowd is expected, so supporters are being advised to arrive early.
