First half goals from Josh Blake and Scott Cross, plus a last minute effort from substitute Deqwon Ebanks, did the damage with Mark Burgess’ Northwood still without a point since their opening day win over Slough Town.
Daventry had three players arrive late at the game, Marcel Simpson, Ashley Robinson and Deqwon Ebanks due to an accident on the M1.
Daventry started the game very well; Josh Blake got his head to a cross from Ryan Howell after ten minutes which narrowly hit the crossbar.
The young Northwood keeper, Jake Knight made several good saves in the first thirty minutes, an early snap shot from Adam Confue and a long range effort from Scott Cross, testing the former Boreham Wood, England schoolboy International keeper.
Daventry took the lead in the 24th minute, a long cross from Captain Guy Sanders was headed over the head of Knight and under the cross bar by the busy Josh Blake.
Daventry increased their lead ten minutes later, Scott Cross managed to find a good position and space out on the right, to chip the advancing keeper with ease.
Chris Murphy and Ryan Howells were creating several openings from the centre of the field, Howells hitting a shot just wide of the post and Man of the Match Chris Murphy causing all sorts of problems in the Northwood defence, with several balls into dangerous areas.
Substitute Deqwon Ebanks came on and almost scored when put through on goal but keeper Knight was quick on his heels to come out and block his shot, later Ebanks received a yellow card for time wasting, but converted Towns third goal in the final minute, twice having his shots blocked before beating the Northwood keeper.
Daventry return to Communications Park for a lucrative Bank Holiday Monday fixture against local rivals Rugby Town.
A big crowd is expected so supporters of both clubs are being encouraged to arrive early.
Daventry Town are also urging supporters of the Purple Army to make as much noise as possible, to help cheer their team to victory!
Town Manager Darran Foster said, ` It would be nice to have some loud vocal support from the Purple Army. Get the songs and chants going throughout the game`
Supporter Gavin Hanna also added his support via Twitter, `Come on, let's get right behind boys on Monday. Big Home support needed.
Matthew Edgar also encouraged supporters, `If you can get yourself down to Daventry tomorrow, 3/3 wins so far, let’s support the guys. Great side this year!
