Daventry have now scored twenty goals in five games, conceding just three and have not lost a match since last April at Guildford City, having not conceded a goal for 294 minutes, clean sheets in the last three games, a remarkable start to the season.

Daventry Town Manager Darran Foster is very pleased with his team’s winning start, ` Once again a very strong performance, we were exceptional from the goal keeper to the centre forwards. We defended very well, the three saves that Richard Morris pulled off were first class, and four goals from our strikers is very pleasing`
`Goals are flowing, a superb hat trick for Scott Cross, goals coming from all areas of the park, which is making us hard to play against. We will enjoy the results and performances but we will not get carried away, we must stay focused and keep producing the best performance possible`

The game started brightly for Daventry, a Neil King free kick being touched on to the cross bar by keeper Haydn Dodge, for a corner. King sent a hard curling free kick just wide of the post, in the 23rd minute, for a foul on Scott Cross.
Enzo Silvatri had Leighton’s first attempt on goal, but put his shot wide of the post, from a good position in front of goal.
The first Daventry goal came after another foul on Cross, the referee allowed a quick free kick to be taken, which resulted in a cross to Ashley Robinson to score.
A neatly worked move put Daventry two goals in front, Adam Confue made a run on goal, providing the perfect ball for Robinson, who passed the ball to Cross, whose shot easily beat the Leighton keeper Dodge.
The third goal was special, Chris Murphy split the Leighton defence with a wonderful pass to Adam Confue, who controlled the ball in his stride, then lofted the ball over the advancing keeper into the net, a wonderful goal.
Leighton were given the opportunity to get back into the game, with a disputed penalty kick, Josh Blake harshly adjudged to have handled the ball in the area. Justice was done, when Daventry keeper Richard Morris made a fine save from Enzo Silvatri, the Leighton striker smashing the rebound high over the bar.
Five minutes into the second half, Daventry went four goals ahead, Scott Cross getting on the end of a cross from Ross Oulton, smashing the ball past the keeper, despite getting his hands to the shot.
Keeper Richard Morris tipped a goal bound shot from Gareth Chandlik and a free kick from Aiden Morris on to the bar, then Scott Cross completed his hat trick in the final minutes, Mykel Beckley laying the ball into his path, Cross hitting his shot high into the net, beyond keeper Haydn Dodge.

This Saturday (7th September) Daventry Town are away at Royston Town, along with Daventry and Barton Rovers, still unbeaten.

Foster is ready for a tough game, `Royston will be another big test, they are a very good side and one of the favourites for the league, we will be heading there full of confidence but we know a good performance is needed, anything less than our best and we will come unstuck`
