They later had a penalty appeal turned down, after Tom Lorraine appeared to have been hauled down in the box.Robinson put another header over the bar, then the Magpies began to assert some pressure of their own, Richard Paquette having a shot deflected for a corner, winger Michael Malcolm forcing a fine save from Richard Morris and a looping volley from Danny Green, from outside the area, narrowly skirting the cross bar.
A superb run from Ollie Wilkinson forced the Magpie’s keeper to palm the ball away for a corner and Adam Confue fired in a rasping shot, which was saved low to the ground by keeper Elvis Putnins. Tom Lorraine also came close, but a strong challenge from Leon Soloman prevented the Daventry striker from getting a clear strike on goal, blocking his shot for a corner.
Richard Paquette found himself clean through on goal, but his attempted chip was hit over the bar, then Michael Malcolm put another strong header past the post. Ross Oulton was unlucky to receive a card for a perceived deliberate handball, the resulting free kick by Daniel Brown going wide of the post. A couple of intricate efforts from Ross Oulton, running with the ball close to his feet, threatened to open up the Maidenhead defence, but unfortunately came to nothing!
Maidenhead scored the only goal of the game after a disputed free kick was given on the right, keeper Morris pulled off a great save from Danny Green, only for the ball to fall at the feet of Michael Malcolm, who reacted quickest to smash the ball into the empty net.
Daventry manager Darran Foster made a number of substitutions to try and get his team back on level terms, a couple of efforts from Adam Confue, forcing a save low to the ground and a free kick from Neil King, which whistled past the post, being the best efforts of note.
In the final minute, Maidenhead striker Richard Paquette was clean through on goal, free of defenders with only the keeper to beat, his poor effort was thwarted by Richard Morris, standing up strong, preventing the big centre forward from adding a second.
This Saturday (7th December) Daventry Town travel to St Ives Town in Cambridgeshire, desperate to get their league campaign back on the road, after playing fifteen cup games out of the last twenty three matches!
