The return of legendary Town goal scorer Tommy Berwick, was overshadowed by striker Luke Keen scoring his eighth goal in fourteen appearances, to seal Daventry Town`s fifth consecutive victory, by winning 1 – 0 at North Greenwood United.

Daventry have produced four consecutive `clean sheets`, conceding just one goal in their last five games, in the 2 – 1 victory over play – off challengers Barton Rovers last month.

The goal that decided the match came in the seventh minute, Tommy Berwick having got the better of the Greenford Captain Danny Bennett, passed the ball forward to Keen, who beat his man and fired in an excellent low drive, which beat the otherwise reliable Greenwood keeper Asen Agov at his right hand post!

The referee consulted his assistant before awarding the goal; a suspicion Tommy Berwick may have used an elbow on Bennett, when the two had come together!

Despite some baffling and contradictory decisions from the referee, Daventry created several other goal scoring opportunities, with winger James Husband and Luke Keen involved in many of them, the Greenford keeper Agov preventing Town from extending their lead on a number of occasions!
This evening Daventry Town are sitting comfortably in fourth place in the league table, just eight points off leaders Rugby Town, but have a huge six games in hand, over their Warwickshire neighbours!

Other results went in favour of Daventry Town, leaders Rugby Town drew 0 - 0 in the top of the table clash with Dunstable Town, the top two clubs dropping a valuable two points each and county neighbours Kettering Town were held at home by Marlow in front of a crowd of 673!

An Andy Gooding penalty in the 77 minute, saving the Poppies a point!
Daventry Town will have played three home matches this week, Aylesbury United on Tuesday, Kettering Town tonight Thursday and Slough Town on Saturday.

Big crowds were expected at all three matches, but supporters are being advised to arrive early on Thursday for the Kettering match, when over seven hundred supporters could pack out Communications Park, for the game with Kettering Town!

Daventry Town manager Darran Foster is asking supporters to `Wear Purple` at all three home matches, particularly the Kettering Town match on Thursday evening!

` I would like the `Purple Army` to come out in force and show their support by wearing Purple! Come along in your purple shirts, scarves, hats or any other piece of Purple clothing, the players will appreciate running out to a `Sea of Purple!

`I also want our supporters to make a lot of noise on Thursday, to cheer on the team to victory and out sing the many `Poppies` supporters expected at this very important match for both teams!

Daventry Town Groundsman John Foster would like to thank Brian Gardner, David Middleton and Lewis Porter for assisting him and Team Manager Darran Foster with fitting the advertising boards around Communications Park on Sunday morning, prior to our ground inspection on the 28th March. Well done chaps!
