Daventry Town continued their promotion push with a fourth straight victory over Aylesbury United by 2 – 0, a brace of goals from striker Luke Keen, putting them within ten points of leaders Rugby Town.

This victory at Leighton Buzzard, Aylesbury United ground share with Leighton Town, gave Town a third clean sheet and third away victory in the last four matches, conceding just one goal at Barton Rovers.

Daventry Town manager Darran Foster is a very happy man, `This was a very good three points against a strong Aylesbury United.
It is always pleasing to win any game, but last night had a special edge about it!
The winning mentality and spirit the lads displayed earlier in the season has returned, that will be a huge factor for the remainder of the season!

`I thought we were value for money in the first half, having had three goal bound shots cleared off the line, Luke keen smashing a shot against the crossbar and their keeper having to make two or three exceptional saves!

`It took a fantastic strike from Luke Keen to break the deadlock, to send us in one up just before half time. The second half was more testing, `The Ducks` putting the ball into our box at every opportunity, hoping that the aerial superiority would create chances, but our ` back five` stood strong, probably the best defence in this league!

`Luke was adamant the second goal was his, but like all good strikers Ashley Robinson was also trying to claim it went in off his knee!

`The `Purple Army` support increases with every game, even for away games! I hope this continues, as it is a major factor and gives us all such a lift. Tom Lorraine has moved on loan to Cogenhoe.

`It’s very hard for me to comment on where we will finish, the players are now beginning to see what can be achieved this season, this has bought a new lease of life and belief amongst the players.

`We now play Kettering twice, Slough, Dunstable and Royston of which four of them are at home; on their day, they are all capable of winning any game! These matches will be classed as cup finals, but many of the top five clubs play each other so will drop points. Dunstable travel to Rugby town on Saturday!

`Our fate for this season, is in our hands, we will be doing all we can to complete an excellent season with a league title!
