Dearne select their side for the season finale.

Dearne Valley RUFC finish of their season this Easter weekend at home to Dinnington RUFC. It is also Sponsors Day, where we welcome down those who have supported us this season and thank them for their support. A packed clubhouse is expected as Dearne hope to finish off what has been a successful inaugural season with a bang.

In the front row, there is a long awaited return for Ben Myers. The prop has been out with a long term injury since December and will be itching to get back on the pitch with his Union team mates for one last run out this season. He is joined in the front row by Will Adams and Bailey Woods.

In the second row, John Williams and Callum Young continue their partnership after an impressive outing against Mosborough. Todd Bailey and Charlie Higgins are reunited in the backrow alongside Luke Christmas who is again rewarded with another selection following an impressive outing in Dearne’s most recent fixture.

In the backline there is a welcome return for Ash Horrobin at scrum half. Stephen Shaw continues his run at fly half and is joined in the centres by Rob Bowling and Darren Williams. The back three consists of Luke Robinson, Will Hudson, and Jack Duggan.

Prior to the game, Head Coach Callum Emery spoke of how excited he is for what he is hopeful of being a cracker of a weekend. “Nobody can doubt this clubs achievements in their first season, the way the club and the team have developed is amazing to say it all started off as a group chat between some close mates back in June last year!”. “We are now hopeful we can put on a show this weekend in front of a packed clubhouse, on Sponsors Day, and keep our undefeated status in the league.” He continued, “Dinnington are a tough side and the last match against them went right down to the wire and I’ve no doubt this weekend will be a great test for the team.”

It is a 2:15 kick off with KB’s Kitchen open from 9am and The Doghouse open from midday. We encourage everyone, both current and new supporters, to come down and celebrate the clubs achievements this Easter weekend for a final taste of Rugby Union before a key group of the lads switch over to League for the summer season.
