Deeside RFC is excited to announce the appointment of Eric Strachan as the club's new Director of Rugby.

Eric has been at the club for seven years fulfilling a variety of coaching roles and during this time helping to develop a number of quality youth players to district and international honours.

He returned to Deeside after moving back to the area, having initially playing for Aboyne RFC in the early 90s and is a Deeside lad who grew up in Peterculter.

As a recently qualified SRU Level 3 coach, his rugby journey has taken him from Aberdeenshire RFC captain before then taking up the Head Coach position for a number of successful years which saw the club progress from Caley leagues to National 2. He has also had coaching roles at local sides Gordonians in National 3 and Grammar in National 1 in recent years. In total, Eric comes with around 23 years of coaching youth and adult rugby players.

Eric said “I'm heavily involved in and around the club at Deeside. I look forward to overseeing and developing the rugby elements of the club, especially assisting volunteer coaches at all levels to help them improve and understand how they can deliver sessions which improves players skill levels and ultimately their enjoyment. A key mantra for me is that it should all be based around a safe, fun and inclusive environment with opportunities for all players to develop to the very best of their athletic ability.

“With the addition of more new floodlighting, Great training and playing facilities and an amazing new clubhouse this family club is starting to go places, I can hopefully use my experience to aid the club to take the next steps towards their overall goals.”
