Deeside were hoping to get their league campaign off to a winning start but it wasn't to be. The team were reduced to 14 after around 30 minutes when Callum Wright was awarded a red card. The Medics made the numerical advantage count and were up 14-5 at half-time when Deeside were weakened further with the departure of Jamie Davidson due to injury. Deeside re-organised after the break but were dealt another blow on 50 minutes with an ankle injury to Adam Chiverton who had to come off. Ten minutes later Thomas Davidson came off with a head knock. Deeside finished the game with 13 players on the pitch trying to keep the Medics at bay. Deeside never gave up and scored a couple of tries playing 13 against 15 but as the score indicates the Medics made the most of the situation and came away with the win.
Thanks to Garioch RFC for the use of their facilities and for loaning players to help us get the fixture played.
Next Saturday Deeside go to Woodside in Aberdeen to play Aberdeenshire 2's (a re-arranged fixture that was previously postponed with the Shire men unable to field a squad). Kick off at 3pm for those who would like to come and support the team.
