United overcame Denaby rivals Stute FC 2-0 to reach the Montagu Cup Semi Final where they will face fellow County Senior League side Wombwell Main

Goals from Steve Ellor and Mark Pratt gave United the victory against a hard working Stute side in front of a quite decent crowd on a warm sunday morning.

United had the better of the chances with efforts from Steve Ellor, Mark Pratt and Silas Collins with Cory Goodwin also bringing out a finger tip save from Stute keeper Craig Pears. The Stute also had chances of their own in a well matched first half, firstly Ryan Oakley, with his back to goal swivelled superbly to fire in a rasping drive that rattled the crossbar while brother Aiden spun his marker to race clear on goal, United keeper Kyle Matthews on his toes as he raced out of his goal to intercept as Aiden attempted to round him. The 2 Oakley brothers were looking lively keeping United defenders Paul Mills and Louis McKie busy though United might have had a spot kick when Ellor was barged over by Pears but the referee ignored United's penalty claim.

The second period saw United boss the game a little more as Callum Black and Cory Goodwin began to see more of the ball, with the pace of Silas Collins on the right wing causing concern for the Stute back line. A free kick clawed away by United stopper Matthews the only effort of concern to the United goal. United took the lead on 67 minutes when a pass from midfield split the Stute defence and fell right into the path of Steve Ellor with the United man taking the ball a few paces before firing in a fierce low shot inside the post leaving the keeper no chance. United were beginning to look brighter up front with little concern towards their own goal, half chances came to Ellor and Goodwin as well as a rather comical 10 seconds when the ball went across goal 4 times without the ball being forced over the line when on each occasion it seemed easier to score. Mark Pratt finally made the game safe 8 minutes from time with a firm shot that slipped the grasp of the keeper and went over the line into goal.

Final score United 2-0 Stute FC
