This was a threadbare United side with the Reds short of 5 players who would probably have started as well as playing the game without a recognised keeper as player unavailability took it's toll. Halloween might have been 3 days ago but United had a nightmare start to this league cup 2nd round tie at Caribbean Sports, 2 defensive errors, the first after 3 minutes and the second one on 7 minutes saw United trailing 2-0 and seemingly looking as they might be on their way to a heavy defeat. However like the game last week at Jubilee Sports the team got their way back into the game drawing level before the break, firstly Callum Black fired in a free kick from 30 yards with the home side seemingly more intent on baulking United players than they were in facing up to the free kick then on 35 minutes United got level, an accurate ball from Black found Steve Ellor in the clear and he lobbed the ball over the outcoming keeper to make it 2-2 at the interval.
Other opportunities had Ashley Cantrill seeing his shot saved while the home keeper made a double save from Liam Ramsay and Chris Haines, for the home side Reds stand in keeper Ian Gillan was called upon to make a couple of point black stops with Caribbean looking to get back in front. There were no goals scored in the second period though Steve Ellor missed a glorious chance with a header from a Silas Collins cross just before the end so extra time was necessary to provide a winner. With both sides tiring chances were few and far between but the one opportunity that did occur came to the home side with a brilliant volley that saw the ball sail into goal to move Caribbean into round 3.
Final Score Caribbean Sports 3-2 United aet (2-2 at 90 minutes)
