United took the points at a sunny Old Road in a 3-1 win over visitors High Green Villa

The first concern came at the United goal with keeper Jamie Tune having to palm away a corner whilst under pressure, this was followed with an angled cross from Villa number 10 Mikey Vella but no team mates got near it. For United a lob from Ashley Cantrill saw United threaten the visitors goal while an Aiden Oakley pass sent Silas Collins clear but his touch was too strong and the keeper was able to race out and clear. Reds keeper Tune was then required to save a free kick, his punch clearing the cross bar. United took the lead on 27 minutes with a simple goal, a cross from Chris Haines skipped the head of a defender, the ball came to Steve Ellor and his low cross was turned in by Sam Hutton, a speculative shot from Aiden Oakley followed, out wide on the right touchline the shot had the visiting keeper worried but he was thankful to see the ball go wide. The visitors had a chance to get level on 34 minutes when they were awarded a penalty, but with the ball fiercely kicked down the middle of goal, Tune already diving to his right made a superb one handed stop, he was then quick enough to get to his feet and smother the ball to stop any follow up. That penalty miss for Villa might have proved even more costly because United might have gone further ahead, Ellor sent Aiden Oakley clear and he raced forward with only the keeper to beat but he put his shot wide.

Only 3 second half minutes had elapsed when villa drew level, a left side corner to the far post being headed home by Alex Vineall, this leveller put the visitors on the front foot and they looked the more likely side to get a second, a lobbed effort saw Reds stopper Tune have to reach high to gather the ball with United also having to defend a series of corners with Ashley Cantrill shown a yellow after complaining vociferously at one of these being awarded and Silas Collins clearing a ball off the goal line. United though were able to withstand this pressure and went back in front on 67 minutes with a superbly well worked goal, breaking down the right, Callum Black played an exquisite little dinked lobbed pass and the ball fell nicely for Steve Ellor to strike first time and put the ball in the net. It got better for the Reds because a short time later Neil Spruce turned and fired in a super shot after getting the ball from a throw in, his shot going across the keeper and nestling inside the far post. United were then pushed back as the visitors looked to get back in the game but apart from a free kick in a dangerous area nothing came from this pressure and United saw the game out.
