Despite the strong winds United overcame visitors Jubilee Sports 2-1 to record their 3rd win of the season

The game was never going to be a classic with strong winds, severe at times. playing havoc with any efforts at close ball control and passing. Playing the first half with the wind advantage United looked the more likely side to create chances, a fierce drive across goal from Neil Spruce the first opportunity. For the visitors Danny Barnsley skewed a shot wide when well placed, but the clearest chance came to United on 12 minutes and they should have taken the lead, playing a one-two with Spruce Steve Ellor found himself clear with only the keeper to beat but he dragged his shot wide. The United man again got clear as he beat the visitors offside line, this time he lobbed the ball over the keeper but saw his effort also clear the bar. On the half hour United took the lead, Ellor played the ball to Spruce who in turn passed out to the right to Silas Collins, his run and low cross in towards goal was met by Ellor and his side foot effort beat the keeper.

United's advantage only lasted a couple of minutes as the visitors got level when Doughty was played clear and despite a United offside appeal no whistle was forthcoming and Doughty made no mistake to make the score 1-1. The visitors might have taken a half time advantage but Barnsley was unable to get on the end of a right wing cross, as it was United went into the break ahead, midfielder Callum Black played a neat through ball to Steve Ellor and remained calm to side foot past the keeper to give United the advantage again at 2-1.

The second 45 saw the wind advantage for Jubilee Sports and they looked to push United back, there was a goal mouth scramble with at least 3 men in red shirts throwing themselves at or on the ball to prevent the visitors levelling matters. Despite the wind advantage United didn't suffer too many scares, a kick forward by Jubilee keeper Wragg bounce high over the Reds defence and keeper and thankfully over the bar when it seemed as if it might drop under the bar, they also rattled the bar with a free kick, harshly given by the referee, but those occasions apart United battled well enough to prevent any other clear opportunities. For United the second period saw a Neil Spruce shot blocked for a corner after he was played in by Mark Gedney and the pace of Silas Collins down the right was always a threat however United fought hard to keep what they had ant took the points with a 2-1 success.
