North Gawber Colliery cemented their league top spot with a 4-2 success over United

Hosts North Gawber began the day 3 points clear of rivals Dodworth MW and finished it with a 6 point lead with a fairly comfortable win over the Reds with their neighbours game falling foul to the wet weather.

The home side started strongly forcing a series of early corners and it was from one of these that they took the lead on five minutes, United failed to clear a corner from the right and Woodhead fired the ball home. With their tails up Gawber continued to press and with some better finishing as well as a number of good saves from Reds keeper Jake Barton they might have been out of sight as United at times looked in disarray. It took United 30 minutes before they got a shot on goal with Aiden Oakley's effort rising all the way. Shortly after the home side went 2 up with a volley from Welford as he got on the end of a right wing cross.

United managed to reach the interval only 2 down when it could have been a few more though with keeper Barton having to be replaced at the break due to injury United found themselves 3 down only 60 seconds into the second half when a the ball was driven across goal from the left and a home player was waiting at the far post for a simple tap in leaving outfield player Neil Spruce's first contribution as replacement keeper to pick the ball out of the net. With the points seemingly lost United began to ask a few more questions of the league leaders with Steve Ellor and Silas Collins having shots at goal. Gawber were still looking dangerous and missed a number of chances as well as Spruce making a couple of good stops before they did make it 4-0 when Welford got his second with a flick past keeper Spruce when the ball was played in from the right.

At 4-0 down the points were now lost with United only playing for pride and they gave themselves some self esteem in pulling 2 goals back with 2 Steve Ellor strikes, the first a penalty after Ashley Cantrill was brought down by home keeper Butcher as he looked to get on the end of a free kick into the penalty area, the penalty confidently dispatched, the second came when Silas Collins fed the ball to Ellor out right and his cross/shot had enough height and dip to go over the keeper and nestle inside the far post. Silas Collins also fired in a long range shot which the keeper held comfortably.
