United got off to a poor start and found themselves 2 down after only 12 minutes after seemingly not shaking the cobwebs out after the journey over to the ground. On 30 minutes the arrears were reduced after a terrific volley from Josh Whittaker to leave the interval score at 2-1. Unfortunately it was ref blunder that helped restore the 2 goal advantage, the man in black somehow gave a corner after a sliced shot by a home player claiming he saw a deflection. Despite that wrong decision the ref could not be blamed for the bad defending from the corner, a short corner saw 2 against 1 before a home player raced towards goal and he curled the ball home to make it 3-1. A 4th goal soon followed as United never really recovered from the injustice of the earlier corner decision .
The afternoon might have got worse when Tony Mullen might have seen red for a robust challenge which only got a yellow though Tony himself was the victim of a similar challenge for which he didn't even get a free kick. All in all an afternoon to forget.
