Denbigh Town FC held a successful Presentation Night yesterday evening at the Plas Pigot Country Club for the three senior teams viz. the First Team, Reserves and Development.
The awards and further photos will be published later this weekend.
83 yr old Owen Thomas was unable to attend the evening and was visited this morning by members of the committee who presented him with the award of Clubman Of The Year. The photo shows Club Secretary Iwan Jones with the surprised but delighted Owen at his home.
Owen has supported Denbigh Town for around 60 years and has been at Central Park as a general volunteer / steward for the past 20 years. He is one of the first people visitors to the ground see and is an ever present whatever the weather and has become a well known figure in the local football world. Owen has raised so much money for the club through the selling of raffle tickets and this past season has broken club records. Without people like Owen the club simple could not survive.
Upon being given the award Owen said " Thank you. I have been with the club for so long and am thrilled to be recognised this way. It is the first thing I have won with Denbigh Town and shall never forget this."
Well done Owen. An award thoroughly deserved!
