Teams progress to 11 v 11 training games

This weekend has seen some of the senior players at Central Park play 11 v 11 intra club training games for the first time in months after we moved to FAW 's Phase 3 of the Return To Play Protocol.

To allow senior teams to play each other strict conditions must prevail after the club has submitted a new checklist to the FAW and prepared a new risk assessment.

We need to abide to a raft of rules such as :-

Each player must self assess their ability to take part using a nine point questionnaire issued by the FAW e.g. Have you returned from a country on the quarantine list or do you have a loss of smell or taste.

Players must submit to a temperature check and those with a temperature of over 37.5 will not be allowed in the training venue before being given the appropriate advice. [ Photo shows the young prospect 16 yr old Gethin Jones having his temperature taken yesterday ]

Use of changing and showering facilities are not allowed

The two metre physical distancing rules can only be breached in the narrow circumstances required during the game

Registers of all those present to be kept with names and contact details

The activity consists of no more than 30 people IN TOTAL which will include the players, coaches [ one acting as a referee ], First Aid and covid officer.

Spectators are NOT permitted at this time so players are requested to ask their family and friends not to attend until the rules and regulations allow.

These in house club training matches allow us to experience the protocols we have to put in place and enable us to plan and prepare for future developments. If all goes well it is theoretically possible that our senior sides will be allowed to play friendly matches against other clubs come 19th Oct but subject to any addition local lockdown restrictions. Some of the Junior teams are already doing this.

We all hope the infection rate of the Covid -19 virus improves which will allow things to move on to competitive league matches but until that time we take careful little steps guided by the FAW and make things as secure as we possibly can.

The Reserve squad, bolsters by some Development lads played an 11 v 11 today at Central Park with plenty of goals and tired legs.

Yesterday the Vets played the Development Team and they continue to argue whether it was experience or fitness that saw then win 2 -1 with a last second goal.

Keep in touch for further updates and stay safe.
