The Reserves went into this game knowing only a win would give them the Runners Up position in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Reserves League. This was the Reserves last game of the season and they stood three points behind Llanberis , who have played all their games . Denbigh however had the better goal difference.
Kev Roberts’ young team went into the match on an unbeaten thirteen game run and were looking to extend this run.
An early Rhys Llwyd goal gave them a 1-0 lead and Denbigh should have been well ahead by half time after having several golden chances which they could not finish. Instead Colwyn Bay scored in the latter stages of the half meaning the teams went in at half time 1-1.
The second half saw both teams having chances and the game reached 80 minutes with the teams still level. Then came a dramatic ten minute spell which saw Denbigh score three in quick succession with Andy Thomas netting two along with Rhys Llwyd getting his second and putting the game out of Colwyn Bay’s reach.
