Denbigh Town Reserves continued their run of home wins at Central Park with a comprehensive performance against a spirited Kinmel Bay team. Striker Luke Farley netted two goals along with Stu Vernon, Andy Thomas and Josh Griffiths getting on the score sheet to give Town a 5-1 win on a heavy pitch made wet by downpours earlier in the afternoon
With the First Team having no game over the weekend, Reserves manager Nick Hailes was able to call up some of the first team squad to his starting eleven. Recent signing Chris Bennett from Prestatyn started along with Sam Tate, Stu Vernon, Sion Jones and Conor Jones.
Kinmel Bay had the first opportunity when Barry Roche had a free header at the far post only for his attempt to go over the bar. Denbigh responded and Gwion Bibby had the ball in the net from a Stu Vernon cross on 14 minutes only to see an offside flag being waved by the assistant and his goal was disallowed.
A foul in the penalty area on 19 minutes saw Kinmel Bay awarded a penalty and this time Barry Roche made no mistake sending keeper Dafydd Evans the wrong way and giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Denbigh levelled 8 minutes later with Stu Vernon and Sion Jones linking well before Vernon finished off with a cool clinical finish. On 31 minutes Denbigh took the lead when a tremendous ball across the box from Andy Thomas fell to Luke Farley who was able to slot home for his first goal of the evening.
The second half saw Denbigh continue to pressurise the Bay defence and Farley got his second after 58 minutes when Stu Vernon made inroads into the Bay area and crossed for Farley to head home from close range. 3-1 and minutes later it was 4-1 with Andy Thomas getting on the scoresheet after a great run from Chris Bennett down the right wing who crossed for Thomas to volley home.
With Denbigh now in control of the game Nick Hailes introduced youngsters Josh Griffiths and Josh Jones for Andy Thomas and Adam Jones. With 73 minutes gone, Griffiths was able to rise higher than anyone in the penalty area to head home to make it 5-1.
The win moves Denbigh up to third position in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Reserves league with their next game away to Llangefni in a week's time
