In a match played in nightmare conditions the Reserves battled back from a 3-0 deficit after 15 minutes to claim a draw in the last minute of the game .
Cae Sling is perched just above the A55 in Penmaenmawr and a howling gale greeted the Reserves on their arrival as a strong wind blew off the sea. Within a minute the hosts were one up through Cory Young as Penmaenmawr adapted themselves better to the weather. Five minutes later it was 2-0 courtesy of a Denbigh own goal and further misery was to follow on 15 minutes as Joe Williams hit the third.
Denbigh consolidated and got themselves playing as a unit and reached half time without conceding any more . A rejuvenated team took the field in the second half and immediately they pulled one back through a Penmaenmawr own goal. Chance after chance came Denbigh's way as they hit the woodwork four times in a half dominated by the visitors.
With 75 minutes played, Sam Lewis (see photo) hit his first goal for the club since his return and Denbigh piled on the pressure as they looked for the equaliser. It came in the final minute thanks to captain Gwion Bibby and Denbigh came home with a point.
The draw means Denbigh retain their place at the top of the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Reserves League on goal difference from second place Porthmadog who have a game in hand on Denbigh.
Manager Nick Hailes said after the game "On paper this is a game we should have won but the conditions were awful and we had a disastrous start. However the lads showed great character to fight back on the second half and get the draw".
