Buoyant after the previous weeks win against the Ravens Derby City made the journey to Ravens determined to continue their positive form.
Derby having been forced to make changes due to work commitments was met by a team having changed dramatically from the home game. Maybe a sense of remembering the previous weeks match made City complacent as Ravens started the better team. Knock ons and enforced mistakes created opportunities for the home team. Tries for Jack Pearce and Tom Pottinger both converted by Reza Kashefi were the highlights however the home side were stepping up the pressure by scoring 18 points. Half Time NEW Ravens 18 Derby City 8.
Realising that the performance was particularly sub-standard from previous matches came out with a bang! Ravens had had opportunities to have almost finished the match in the first half but thankfully Derby were still in the game and within three minutes the comeback had started. Adam Burrows scored followed by Pearce for his second five minutes later, Pottinger’s second five minutes later. The home side sneaked a converted try however the rest of the game was all Derby as both teams appeared to have a Jeckle & Hyde appearance.
Five further tries followed for Derby, Kashefi after 60, Arron Robinson 4 minutes later, Adam Norris and Robinson’s second finished the game with Kashefi adding three conversions.
Full time NEW Ravens 24 Derby City 46. Man of the match goes to Lewis Sturgess for his relentless yardage gains throughout the game..
Next week sees Derby at home against Leicester Storm hoping to continue the winning run.
