Didcot 46 v Drifters 0

Didcot 46 v Drifters 0

This home win will be remembered, amongst other things for two important milestones - The club recorded its longest winning streak - 6 on the bounce, and Josh Witts recorded over 1,000 points in 1st team rugby for the club. A huge milestone.
With a number of changes to the side, Didcot set about continuing on their winning streak. It took just 4 minutes for them to take the lead with Charlie Ellis going over from close range. The conversion was missed but 7 minutes later Thom Harrington added to the score with a well worked try that started inside the Didcot half. Ben Huxley converted. With 11 minutes gone the score was 12-0. Didcot did not ease up and some quick hands saw Callum Cooke beat two defenders to score Didcots third try. The conversion was missed. Didcot ahead 17-0..but it could have been more. Having been yellowed carded on 26 minutes, Tom Kennedy then returned to the field and secured the bonus point 4th try on 38 minutes. Half time score 22-0 to Didcot.
Didcot continued to pile on the pressure in the second half exploiting the defensive gaps in Drifters line. On 43 minutes, Mark Harper side stepped his opposite 10 to record a 5th try. Josh Witts converted. Score 29-0. On 50 minutes the backs moved the ball from left to right to put Josh Witts away. His pace and a neat chip kick saw him beat the winger and full back to the line to score. The conversion was missed. Score 24-0. However, 4 minutes later the moment arrived. Josh Witts was again set free on the wing and his pace took him into the corner. The try took the score to 39-0 and took Josh over 1,000 first team points...Congratulations on a great achievement.
In the dying minutes, Didcot got their 7th try when Ben Tolson latched onto a pass to go over. Josh Witts converted to make the final score 42-0.
Quite a day!
