Didcot derailed in Devon

Disappointing defeat for the railwaymen

Didcot Town went down to a 2-0 defeat at Bideford on Saturday.

Two goals in the last twenty minutes from the Devon side saw them jump above the railwaymen in the table.

Bideford started brightly, with Fin Coles twice denying Charlie Wright in the opening exchanges.

Owen James had a first chance for Didcot, but his effort was straight at the Bideford keeper from the edge of the area.

James thought he had given Didcot the lead just before the break. The inform striker diverted a shot from Tyger Hall into the goal, but he was denied by an offside flag.

The second half started to open up just past the hour. Gardner went close for the hosts when his header came back off a post.

Fin Coles then did well to deny Moyse, and Owen James dragged his shot wide when he had got in behind the Bideford defence.

Coles again reacted well to deny Finn Roberts from a free kick, but from the resulting throw, Didcot fell behind.

Didcot failed to clear, and Ryan Turner poked the ball home from close range.

Any chance of a Didcot comeback was ended ten minutes from time when Finn Roberts found the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

JP Nyuysemo Almost threw Didcot a lifeline soon afterwards, but the midfielder dragged his shot wide.

Substitute Cam Mills was twice denied by the Bideford keeper late on, but with the whistle blown for full time soon afterwards, it was a disappointing defeat for Didcot in Devon.
