Didcot Town make the short journey up the A34 this evening to take on fellow Oxfordshire based side Kidlington in an important league encounter, 7:45pm kick off from Yarnton Road.

Manager Jamie Heapy picked up his first league win as manager last time out after Mark Francis scored a stoppage time penalty to beat Yaxley 1-0, it was also encouragingly the first time Didcot have kept back to back clean sheets since April 2018 as despite injuries and suspensions Didcot have started the season strongly on the defensive side of the game. As for Didcot team news the only doubt for Didcot is centre back Joe Green who missed last Saturday's game with Yaxley with a calf injury, he will face another fitness test ahead of tonight's game but everyone is hopeful that he will be available.

Tonight's opposition Kidlington like Didcot have had a fair amount of player change since the end of last season, a season where after a disastrous start "The Greens" pulled off a great escape to avoid relegation and send Dunstable Town down instead. Kidlington have had a mixed bag of results so far in this embryonic Southern League Division One Central campaign with 1 win and 3 defeats from their opening 4 games. Their one win coming at Yarnton Road with an impressive 3-0 victory over Thame Utd however Kidlington were beaten by new boys Daventry Town via a stoppage time goal on the opening day of the season as well as suffering 2 heavy defeats on the road to two of the pre-season favourites Halesowen and Berkhamsted.

Last season's meetings between the two sides ended with an incredible finish at Yarnton Road as Kidlington took a late 1-0 lead only for stoppage time goals from Sam Barder and Brett Gardner to earn Didcot the unlikeliest of wins, more telling however was the game at the Loop Meadow where despite taking an early 2-0 lead a nervous Didcot side surrendered that advantage drawing the game 2-2 putting a huge dent in the Railwaymen's playoff hopes as Kidlington got some revenge on their Oxfordshire counterparts.

No doubt however it'll be another keenly contested game between the two sides who have started the season in similar fashion, Didcot looking for back to back wins for the first time this campaign and Kidlington looking for back to back home wins. If you can't make it to tonight's game we will have full updates on twitter from around 7pm.
