Camborne's Mankee kicks his side to victory

Dings just lost out in an entertaining very abrasive affair at Lockleaze with a brilliant 100% kicking display from the visitors standoff Dave Mankee proving the difference between the sides, Mankee got all the visitors points with a try, conversion and five penalties. Dings dominated the opening and closing quarters of the match and managed to outscore Camborne two tries to one but a failure to convert try line pressure into points and four missed kicks at goal cost them the match.
Dings opened the scoring after just three minutes with two monster drives from their pack taking them from halfway to the try line for a touchdown to prop Josh Lloyd. Camborne responded with a penalty from Mankee on their first visit to the Dings half.
Dings continued to dominate both possession and territory but failed to add to their score narrowly missing a couple of penalty attempts. Camborne took the lead on twenty two minutes with a try very much against the run of play, an attempted grubber kick from Dings standoff Ben Bolster on the Camborne twenty two ricocheted off his opposite number Mankee who gather and ran the length to score under the post, he added the conversion for 10-5 to the visitors.
The score proved a turning point with the visitors picking up the pace to put Dings under pressure for the rest of the half but Dings defence held firm with Bolster and Mankee adding two penalties each for a halftime score of 16-11 to the visitors.
Camborne continued to dominate in opening minutes of the second half adding Mankee penalties on forty two and fifty one minutes to stretch the lead to 22-11.
The final quarter went to Dings forcing the visitors onto defence and when full back Harry Tovey crossed in the corner on sixty nine minutes Dings looked like going on win the match but despite plenty of pressure they failed to add to their score. Skipper Stean Williams did touchdown in the final minutes but the referee adjudged a double movement and disallowed the score.
Dings man of the match was lock Gavin Curry with a dominant display at the lineout and outstanding driving in the loose.
