The committee at Dinting cricket club didn't stop at the end of last cricket season, they started working behind the scenes to secure further improvements both on and off the field.
The bar area was given a makeover to match the extension to provide a modern look.
A grant of £1000 was secured from one-stop shops to improve the net facilities which are nearing completion. This will provide a safer environment for the juniors to practice and a more realistic environment for the senior players to hone there skills.
Another grant, this time for £2550 was secured from the E.C.B via Derbyshire Cricket Board for some modern roller covers to help the hardworking ground team get more games on. These are expected to be delivered in the next couple of week so lets hope for some dry weather before then.
On the playing side, the signing of 20 year old overseas amateur Brandan Stonehouse from South Perth Cricket Club will add strength and a more youthful look to the 1st team.
Sam Elliott has rejoined from Glossop Cricket Club to captain the 2nd XI who will look to return to the top division following last years disappointing relegation.
The club have also secure a new sponsor in Croft Lettings, thanks to David Handley of Croft Letting for his support and hopefully the players can do them proud on the field.
Having lost a few senior and junior players it is important that all involved in the club support both teams during this transition period and we look forward to an exiteing and hopefully succesful 2018 season.
