New or returning to cycling - Taster rides Starting Sun 19th July 3pm

Bought a bike during lockdown or returned to cycling?
Would you like to try cycling with a group and find some quiet roads to ride?
Then the Dorking Cycling Club taster ride group is what you need.

An experienced club member will lead you on about an hour's ride round Dorking on quiet roads, starting at Brockham. They will explain how to ride safely in a group (maximum 6), while observing social distancing at all times. There will be an opportunity to ask questions about cycling and Dorking Cycling Club.

Due to Covid-19 social distancing requirements, places must be booked in advance. To book your place contact Glenn Cornish at DCCtasterrides@gmail.com

FAQs
What should I bring with me?
You will need a bike in safe and rideable condition, clothing suitable for the weather, closed-toed shoes and a helmet. You should have a puncture repair kit - a new inner tube suitable for your bike, tyre levers and a pump. A rear red light is a good idea, but not essential.
How much does it cost?
Your first ride with the club is free, to try out whether it's for you. After that we ask you to join the club, which is £20 for individual membership (Under 18s £10). After that rides are included in your membership.
Is the ride leader a qualified coach?
No the ride leader will be an experienced cyclist from Dorking Cycling Club who knows the area well. They are there to guide you - you will be responsible for yourself during the ride. If you have a medical condition, you will need to decide whether it's safe to ride. You may need to consult your doctor to decide about this.
Do I need to wear Lycra?
No, any clothes are suitable as long as they won't get caught in the chain. It is easier to ride in closer fitting clothes, though.
Can I bring children?
As long as they are used to riding on the road, then you can. We would suggest that 13 and over would be a suitable age. You will be responsible for them, and would need to stay with them at all times.
Will you leave me behind if I'm slow?
Absolutely not - this is an introduction to riding, and will go at the pace of the slowest rider. If you find you are wanting to go faster than the group, then Dorking Cycling Club has multiple rides on a Sunday morning at different speeds.
Will it be very hilly?
No, we know how hard hills can be, so this will be relatively flat.
Will I have the opportunity to ask questions?
Yes, after the ride you will be welcome to ask questions about riding, equipment and Dorking Cycling Club.
