Milton 1
Doune Castle 1
Both teams deserve great credit for overcoming the downpour that fell for most the game to produce a pulsating contest.
Early exchanges were even with both sides dangerous on the counter attack. The opening goal came after 27 minutes.
Andy Innes combined with Niall McClure to gain possession in the middle just inside the Castle half. Innes released Alan Inglis down the right. Inglis saw off the full back and drilled an inviting low ball across the face of goal. Andy Innes arrived at the far post to sweep Doune into a 1-0 lead.
Milton hit back within 2 minutes.
Conlyn Comrie and Ryann Duncanson found themselves in a tangle and failed to clear. The ball broke kindly to a Milton forward who tucked the ball past Callum Davison from 6 yards to make it 1-1.
John Marshall skewed an early chance just wide of the left upright after Niall McClure had found him with a pass to the far post.
Challenges were robust all over the park as the slippery underfoot conditions made a physical contest inevitable.
Neither side carved out any clear opportunities until the last 5 minutes. Callum Davison pulled off two remarkable stops as Milton piled forward looking for the winner.
The full-time whistle saw the points shared, a fair result on the balance of the play.
