Doune overwhelmed Rhu with a blistering first-half performance that saw them romp to a 6-0 interval lead.
After a relatively even opening period, Doune took a 1-0 lead on 12 minutes.
A flowing move interchange between Lukasz Duszynski and Alan Inglis saw the ball moved on to Niall McClure. McClure sent John Marshall clear with a clever ball inside. Marshall advanced on the keeper before calmly stroking the ball home.
5 minutes later it was 2-0.
Murray Docherty threaded pass from deep through the heart of the Rhu defence. Retreating from an offside position, John Marshall did well to leave the ball for Niall McClure who had surged forward with a well-timed run. McClure drove into the area and finished confidently from 16 yards.
After 25 minutes, Doune made it 3-0.
Murray Docherty powered a defensive header down to Andrew Gibson. Gibson sent John Marshall free with a precise ball over the Rhu backline. Marshall was clearly onside and advanced into the box. He rounded the keeper and slipped the ball into the empty net.
2 minutes later, David Innes controlled a Niall McClure free kick on his chest but saw his dipping volley flash well over.
Alan Inglis made it 4-0 after 28 minutes. Inglis harried the Rhu backline into squandering possession before breaking clear and sliding the ball home from 14 yards.
Rhu could not match Doune’s impressive passing all over the pitch. It was no surprise when the home side, made it 5-0 on 32 minutes.
Andrew Gibson threaded the ball through to John Marshall and he advanced on the keeper before netting with a confident finish.
Alan Inglis rounded off the first-half scoring a minute later.
Doune again split the Rhu defence wide open, leaving Inglis to draw the keeper before lofting an impudent lob high into the net at the far corner for 6-0.
Doune attacked from the restart and twice came close with efforts from Murray Docherty and John Marshall.
Rhu pulled a goal back after 49 minutes.
The referee harshly adjudged Murray Docherty had deliberately handled in the box. Cameron stepped forward to lash the spot kick high into the net beyond Callum Davison for 6-1.
The home side introduced a raft of substitutes, without interrupting their dominance of the match.
On 67 minutes, Sean Wilbert was inches from connecting with a terrific cross from Conlyn Comrie.
2 minutes later in was 7-1. Willie Deacon created the goal with a driving run before turning the ball inside to Murray Docherty. Docherty brought the ball under control before turning and forcing it into the net from 8 yards.
Conlyn Comrie repeatedly threatened with surging runs down the right flank. Sean Wilbert and Ross Macfarlane both came close before Doune made it 8-1 after78 minutes.
Niall McClure split the defence with a diagonal ball to Willie Deacon who darted inside from the right. Deacon drove the ball under the advancing keeper with an angled finish, despite the efforts of a defender whose late lunge failed to prevent the ball finding the net.
Murray Docherty completed the rout with a powerful header on 86 minutes. Docherty rose above everyone at the back post to bullet a header high into the net from 14 yards.
This was an emphatic display from Doune. They overwhelmed Rhu with their crisp passing and strong-running with the 9-1 final score-line in no way flattering the Moray Park outfit.
